The Margaret Todd Senior Center is a program of Novato Parks, Recreation and Community Services. The Center offers enrichment and fitness courses, special events, game groups, specialty groups, and outreach services that bring people together, encourage social connections, and create new learning experiences. If you’re looking to meet new friends, simply relax, or just have fun, the Margaret Todd Senior Center is the place for you.

On-going Specialty Programs and Game Groups
On-going Center activities include Internet Lab, Library, Poker, Cribbage, Party Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Mah Jongg, Canasta, Billiards, Bocce Ball and more. Contact the Center at 415-899-8290 for days and times or view our current Guide for more information.
Wellness Programs and Outreach Services
The following services are available at the Margaret Todd Senior Center. Center membership is encouraged in order to participate in wellness programs and outreach services.
Alma Latina – The group “Alma Latina” gives Spanish-speaking seniors the opportunity to meet once a month for a potluck lunch and an informative presentation on health issues and other matters. Mardi Gras Party |
Blood Pressure Clinics – Held in the MTSC Library - 10am-12pm on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. No appointment necessary. Free. Center membership is required.
Brown Bag Food Program – Bags of groceries are distributed at the Center to low-income seniors on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. Call the Marin Community Food Bank at 415-883-1302 to qualify and register.
Coordinating Resources – Receive assistance identifying problems and coordinating resources. Call the Novato Independent Elders Program at 415-899-8296 for assistance.
Equipment Loans – The Margaret Todd Senior Center lends items such as wheelchairs and walkers. If an item is needed, call the Center to check availability at 415-899-8290.
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) – Funded by the California Department of Aging. HICAP provides assistance with Medicare, supplemental insurance claims, and evaluation of supplemental health policies. HICAP is at the Center every Wednesday. Home Delivered Grocery Program |
Volunteers shop for and deliver groceries to homebound elderly Novato residents who are unable to shop for themselves. Call the Novato Independent Elders Program at 415-899-8296 to register. Application. Center membership is required.
Legal Services – 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 11am-1pm. Attorney Leo Alberigi specializes in elder law. Call the Center at 415-899-8290 to schedule an appointment. Free. Center membership is required.
Margaret Todd Café – A hot lunch is served Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12:00pm at the Center. The food is provided by Good Earth Organic Natural Foods. Reservations must be made by 4pm the day before you plan on dining. Call the Good Earth at 415-382-1334 for reservations. Suggested donation is $3.00 for adults 60+. Monthly menus are available at the Center.
This program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Novato Independent Elders Program, Marin County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services, Marin County Commission on Aging, and grant funds provided by the Federal Older Americans Act to Good Earth Natural Foods.
Postal Carrier Alert Program – The Postal Carrier Alert Program can offer you the comfort of knowing that your postal carrier will watch for mail buildup and other signs of change that indicate you may need help. Call the Novato Independent Elders Program at 415-899-8296 for more information.

Victim/Witness Protection Program – Been a victim of or witnessed a crime? Want protection from identity theft? Want telemarketers to stop calling? Need a consumer problem resolved? Stop by the Center on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month between 9am and 12pm to speak with a representative from the DA office.

Yard Maintenance Program – Low-income, isolated and/or disabled seniors receive assistance with weeding, raking or light pruning. Call the Novato Independent Elders Program at 415.899-8296 to register.

Membership
There is an annual membership fee to participate in many of the activities offered Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm. See the Membership Application Form for membership options and descriptions.
Donations
The Margaret Todd Senior Center accepts donations, memorials and remembrances that will be designated for Center program use. Please complete our Donations Form, which is available at the Center.
Financial Assistance
The Senior Citizens Financial Assistance Program is established to provide an opportunity for Novato seniors, who, because of economic hardship, are unable to participate in City-sponsored classes and membership. The program is established and funded solely by donations and is administered by the staff at the Margaret Todd Senior Center. Financial assistance is provided to adults (50 years or older) who reside within the city limits of Novato. Funding is 50% of the program fee, with a maximum of $75 per eligible fiscal year July 1 though June 30.

Facility Rental
The Margaret Todd Senior Center is an ideal location for wedding receptions, dances, parties, meetings and seminars. The auditorium has a large wooden dance floor, stage, PA/sound system, commercial kitchen, and can accommodate up to 280 people (theater seating) and 228 (dining). If you’re looking for a smaller room, the Center has several meeting rooms that are ideal for classes, meetings, and seminars. Rental fees vary depending upon room, and duration of the event.
